What this site is

General information about hot tub care: water chemistry, filtration, covers and maintenance routines, together with editorial recommendations about products. It is researched, cited and written in good faith, and the method behind it is published in full on how we pick.

What this site is not

• Not a substitute for your equipment manual. Where your tub’s manufacturer says something different from us, follow the manufacturer. They designed the thing.
• Not a substitute for a product label. Dose to the label on the container in your hand, not to a number on a website. Concentrations differ between products.
• Not medical advice. Where a topic touches health we cite the CDC and tell you to see a doctor. If you or anyone who has used your tub becomes unwell, that is a matter for a medical professional.
• Not professional service advice. Electrical work, plumbing repairs and anything structural should go to a qualified person.
• Not test results. We do not test the products we write about and we say so on every relevant page.

Accuracy

We work hard to be accurate: every numeric range carries a citation to a primary source, product claims are attributed to their manufacturer, and we never cite a source we have not opened. Even so, standards get revised, products get discontinued and reformulated, and mistakes happen.

Verify anything that matters against the current label, the current manual and the current standard before acting on it. If you find something wrong, tell us — we fix errors in place with a dated note, per our editorial policy.

Chemical safety

Pool and spa chemicals are hazardous when mishandled. Never mix concentrated products with each other. Always add chemicals to water, never water to chemicals. Store them dry, closed, separated and out of reach of children and animals. Follow the safety instructions on the container, which take precedence over anything written here.
