Disclosure
Affiliate disclosure
Float & Filter earns affiliate commission on some of the links on this site, at no additional cost to you. This is the formal statement of that arrangement.
Last updated: 2 September 2026.
The disclosure
Float & Filter participates in affiliate programs. When you follow a buy link on this site to a retailer and make a purchase, we may earn a commission on that sale. The price you pay is unchanged. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
This disclosure is made in accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials, which requires material connections to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, and before the link rather than after it.
Which links earn a commission
Every buy button on this site — the ones reading “Check price on Amazon” or showing a price alongside a retailer name. These route through a redirect on our own domain (/go/) before reaching the retailer, and each one carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" and a visible #ad label.
Retailers we currently earn from:
- Amazon — Amazon Associates
We are not currently members of any CJ or Awin program, and no tracked link exists on this site for any program we have not joined.
Which links deliberately earn us nothing
Genuinely custom-fit hot tub covers — the tapered foam kind made to your own measurements — are not sold on general marketplaces. We link the specialist makers who do sell them, and we earn nothing when you buy from any of them:
- The Cover Guy — reference link, no commission
- My Spa Cover — reference link, no commission
Those links are labeled on the page as non-earning. Links to the CDC, to standards bodies, to manufacturer documentation and to the retailer listings we read our filter cross-reference data from are also not affiliate links; they exist so you can check our work.
What the commission does not change
- What we recommend. Rankings follow the criteria published on how we pick. Commission is not one of them.
- What we tell you to avoid. Every roundup carries an explicit “skip this if” verdict on every product, and two of the chemicals we cover are ones most owners should not buy at all.
- Where we send you. See the non-earning links above.
- Your price. Affiliate links add nothing to it.
What we do not accept
- Sponsored placements or paid rankings. Accepted to date: none.
- Free product in exchange for coverage. Accepted to date: none.
- Payment to include, exclude or reorder any product.
- Prices we cannot verify from a live source. Where no live price exists, the button reads “Check price” rather than showing a figure that may be wrong.
Where this disclosure appears
- In a box above the first affiliate link on every commercial page.
- As an
#adlabel directly beneath every buy button. - In the footer of every page on the site.
- On this page, and in plain language on how we make money.
